With this sculpture I wanted to create a sense of rising, having the dancer lifting off and freeing herself from that which holds her down. Those hair tresses are quite long, so fitting and bonding them together was both challenging and really enjoyable. The figure is sapele wood, the hair pieces are of poplar and the base is Bath stone.
