I recently completed a 'New Beginning sculpture, 'Entwinned', which I really wanted to recreate on a larger scale. After sourcing two suitable, contrasting pieces of timber, one a large, rare block of brown beech, the other a block of sapele wood. I set about the ambitious project of creating a sculpture with a height of 6 feet. It took all my stubborn patience to sculpt the two pieces to firstly both fit together and also complement each other.

I acquired a lovely piece of grey Edinburgh sand stone which took ages to shape as it is really dense and heavy, but this gives such a tall sculpture real stability.

I am currently in the process of polishing these two pieces before setting them in the stone base.

The height eventually came to 180cm or 5feet 11 inches.
